Joining a group and working through the Seasons for Growth programme can help them to talk about what has happened and to become more resilient.
We use the imagery of the four seasons to illustrate that grief is cyclical, not a linear journey with a clear end. Trained “Companions” facilitate small groups of four to seven participants. The children and young people share their experiences, and support and learn from one another. Peer support is a key element of the programme, and confidentiality is strongly emphasised.
The programme runs over eight sessions and the children and young people work with a journal which they can take home at the end of the group.
This programme is available for all bereaved children and young people aged from age 6 to 18 and who live in the local community. It is free of charge and is generally held after school hours in the Church building.
