Church Life

How we work

Our Kirk Session meets five times per year, setting general policy, actively and creatively steering our path of renewal, and seeking to deliver our vision of “Trinity Transforming Lives”. We have 29 serving Elders and we encourage younger members to assist the Kirk Session in its work and decisions. The Kirk Session oversees a series of “initiatives” with a few serving Elders recruiting people as required for each initiative, some of which will be short term and some long term, and open the door to new initiatives as they arise. We employ a Business and Development Manager who assists and sometimes leads in areas of events, Family Life Centre, finance and buildings.

We believe in the ministry of all God’s people where everyone has a part to play in the body of the Church and we encourage everyone to use their gifts and talents to that end.

How we learn and grow

We encourage everyone in discipleship and to explore ways of developing their spiritual life by offering a variety of resources throughout the year, including talks, topical discussions, prayer opportunities, and book groups. We also encourage people to connect with the material on the Sanctuary First website.

Cafe in the Kirk

Our cafe is at the heart of our Church community. We are normally open on Wednesdays from 11:30am until 1:30pm for lunch and light refreshments including freshly made soups, sandwiches and scones. Everything is freshly prepared.

We provide table service in a warm, friendly and interactive environment. Whether you are looking for a working lunch, catching up with friends or seeking a tranquil space to contemplate, we’ll be able to help. Many of our customers are regulars whilst others express great delight at finding us for the first time.

Snowdrop Cafe

The Snowdrop Café runs on Monday afternoons from 1pm to 3pm throughout the year.

It’s a right friendly atmosphere with time to chat and enjoy a scone or biscuits with a cuppa or two (or three). Some enjoy playing dominoes or card games. From time to time, we have a speaker, entertainment, or a craft.

The aim of the Snowdrop Café is to bring people of all age groups together in an inclusive and friendly environment where all will be respected and accepted. The objective is simply to provide a space to make friendships, enjoy each other’s company, help with isolation and form a sense of belonging.

The Snowdrop Café is run in conjunction with Strathcarron Hospice.

If you find it difficult to get to the Snowdrop Café, contact the church to find out if it is possible to get a Transport.

Trinity Guild

Our Guild usually meets in the Lounge on Wednesdays in February, March, October and November. Meetings start at 2.00pm and are open to all.

We are a very small part of an organisation of 25,000 members! Occasionally we have outside speakers, but in the main we draw on the talents and experiences of our own members, and we have been privileged to share their wide range of interests, hobbies and stories of life and faith.

The Church of Scotland Guild provides many excellent resources and materials to go along with the yearly themes

The Choir

Our Church Choir is important to us and contribute to worship every Sunday. New members are always made welcome and anyone interested in joining the choir should email the office for more information.

What is there for the elderly and housebound?

Our housebound members are visited regularly and our Church news is distributed. A small gift and card is delivered at Christmas and Easter, cards are also sent out at regular intervals during the year.

Minitreats

We run an occasional Minitreat bus between March and October. Minitreats is a mini bus ride with mini treat cuppa stop. Cost is £12. Within Falkirk we can pick up from your door or a couple of central stops. Fill in a Registration form: Registration Form (for office storage) if you would like to be considered.  Forms are also available on the table outside Trinity Church office. If you would like to know more please speak with Catherine, Henrietta or David or give the church office a phone on 611017.

What is there for young people?

We have various groups and activities available for our young people, from baby to young adult, on Sunday mornings and during the week…

S-Kidz – each week after the first part of the service, the children leave for S-Kidz in the hall. But have you ever wondered what they do through there?

Well, after our get together and stories about our week, we watch or listen to a Bible story then learn more through games, crafts, songs and prayers all linked to the theme for the week.

We operate with a team of leaders each week and a rota of helpers. We are always looking for more helpers so if you would like to join us once in a while just let us know.

Youth Station is our group for young people from P7 – S6 and they meet each Sunday to learn more about Christian faith. They attend communion services; have talks from members of the congregation; discuss issues in life and how the Bible helps us to cope with these; help S-Kidz with things like nativity plays; take part in youth services e.g. talking, playing musical instruments; pack charity shoe boxes at Christmas and so much more.

Girls’ Brigade is a lively, vibrant organisation offering a wide range of activities for girls, from dancing to cookery, within a safe and secure environment. The 9th Falkirk Girls’ Brigade meet here on Wednesdays from 6.30pm – 8.00pm. For more information please see their Facebook page: Facebook

Boys’ Brigade gives boys the opportunity to meet together and engage in a range of fun and developmental activities and experiences, from sports to quizzes and craft activities. The 4th Falkirk Boys’ Brigade meet on Wednesday evenings in the Ettrick Dochart Community Hall.
